To start the day off we went to Tin Tin’s, which is one of the many coffee shops here. After breakfast we traveled towards the Universeum, which is a science museum here in Gothenburg. On our way to the Universeum we made a pitstop at one of the eight fire stations in Gothenburg because our friend’s dad is a Chicago firefighter and wanted to get a fire station shirt from Gothenburg. As we went to exchange it we found out that you can only purchase shirts during the week because only the administration has a key to this area, so we decided Tuesday would work better.Within the Universeum there are seven sections: the rainforest, the natural environment of Sweden, the aquatic area, the reptile area, the space section, the health section, and the technology section. My personal favorite part of the Universeum was the rainforest section; it reminded me of Costa Rica and made me want to go back so badly! The other section that I also loved was the health section because it had a lot of different games that were challenging. Here is a picture of the space section, which was interesting because it had a couple of videos running too showing you different planets and facts about them. Some of the facts were that there are no sounds in space, it is completely silent; and that the International Space Station floats about 400 km above our heads.I also liked the aquatic area because I was able to see many of the fish that I have in my salt water tank at home, however I am not a huge supporter of paying to see animals as entertainment. My least favorite part of the Universeum was the reptile area. I cannot handle snakes or spiders at all, but when I was in Costa Rica I did not mind it at all so I guess it just has to do with the environment you’re in.Here is another picture from the rainforest section of the Universeum. We saw monkeys, a toucan, and many other different kinds of birds. It was sad to see them all locked up in one area for the rest of their life though, but other than that I thought it was a lot of fun! The Universeum, however, we believe was meant for children but we still had fun being kids again.
Daily Reflections:
– The rainforest section was just like hot yoga
– Fire stations in Gothenburg cannot give apparel during the week because of administration having the key
– Even though I have danced for 18 years, I cannot walk on a tightrope
